Patricia Terrell (Pat) Evans

Patricia Terrell (Pat) Evans passed away peacefully in her home on May 2, 2013 at the age of 81.  A pioneer in implementing and changing Louisiana laws dealing with family violence, rape, community property, equal credit and displaced homemakers, she also worked to get women elected to political office.

She managed the campaign of State Treasurer Mary Landrieu and served as advisor to the successful campaigns of Lt. Governor Melinda Schwegmann and Senator Diana Bajoie. Pat, who was the first Director of the Governor's Office of Women's Services, was very active as a community organizer in New Orleans helping to obtain funding for community development projects in different parts of New Orleans. 

She is survived by a daughter Debby Evans of and a son Matthew Evans.  Pat's life was devoted to others, and it was a joy to know her. VFA honored her in New Orleans in1996 along with Louisiana feminists.
